Alabama Power Promotes Workforce Development Training Programs

PEP Member Alabama Power is reaching out to community partners to promote upcoming workforce development training programs at Bishop State and other community college partners across Alabama.

Bishop State is accepting applications through the month of August for both the Lineworker Program and the HVAC Fast Track Program. Other community college partners across the state are also accepting applications for the Lineworker Program, including Jeff State, Lawson State and Trenholm State. The next round of lineworker classes at each school will begin in 2024.

The schools have a goal to achieve 50 percent student diversity in their classes. Scholarships and financial assistance are available.

Links to each school’s website where candidates can apply for the Lineworker Program are listed below:

The HVAC Fast Track Program is a great opportunity for mechanically inclined students who prefer to remain on the ground verses working in a bucket truck.  Bishop State is accepting applications for the September 2023 class. Dates for the 2024 class will be determined at a later time. More information can be found at   HVAC Fast Track – Bishop State. Bevill State’s HVAC classes are scheduled for 2024.  More details about their program can be found at HVAC Fast Track | Bevill State Community College (bscc.edu).
