PEP’s Annual Membership Luncheon With Mayor Sandy Stimpson

PEP was proud to host Mayor Sandy Stimpson at our membership luncheon on December 16, 2024 at The Battlehouse Hotel in Mobile, Alabama. Mayor Stimpson gave our members updates on the state of the city, including his plans for his final year as Mayor or Mobile. His administration is prioritizing the completion of key civic projects to ensure a strong foundation for the next administration.

Key points included:

• Civic Projects: Progress continues on significant projects, including the renovation of the Civic Center, the I-10 bridge project, development of Hero Park and Cooper Riverside Park, and the construction of a new hotel at the Mobile Convention Center to boost tourism and local economic activity.
• Workforce Development: The mayor praised the Mobile Chamber of Commerce’s Workforce Development team for their contributions. Austal’s expansion to build submarines was highlighted as a critical development, creating an advanced workforce with national security significance.
• Workforce Housing: The addition of affordable workforce housing at Maryvale Place was announced. This represents a significant step, marking the first development of its kind east of I-65 in several decades.
