PEP recently celebrated another exciting milestone in our ongoing coastal restoration efforts with the installation of additional Eagle Reefs across Baldwin and Mobile counties. New reefs were placed at the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources boat ramps on Dauphin Island, along with several homeowner installations and multiple reef deployments at two locations in Foley – the Graham Creek Nature Preserve board walk and the Wolf Creek Park fishing dock.
What makes these projects especially rewarding is seeing the transformation already taking place. Side-by-side with newly installed reefs, older Eagle Reefs are thriving — covered in oysters and attracting fish and marine life, proving the long-term impact these living shorelines can have on our coastal ecosystem. These installations continue to strengthen habitats, improve water quality, and enhance fishing in public access areas for generations to come.
