TOPIC TITLE: From Trash to Triumph: Southwest Alabama’s Recycling Overhaul

ABOUT: Terri Graham is the Chief Executive Officer of the Solid Waste Disposal Authority (SWDA) of Baldwin County, Alabama, where she has provided visionary leadership for the past 12 years. A long-time advocate for enhanced waste and recycling management in the region, Terri played an instrumental role in the formation of the Solid Waste Authority, officially established in 2023 through a partnership between the Baldwin County Commission and the City of Bay Minette.

Under her leadership, SWDA oversees every facet of waste and recycling services for Baldwin County. Serving more than 50,000 residential customers weekly, the Authority also operates one municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill, two construction and demolition (C&D) landfills, one transfer station, and the county’s state-of-the-art Material Recovery Facility (MRF), which opened in January 2025. The MRF features the unique Waste and Recycle Adventure Center, an interactive education facility that has already hosted more than 60 tour groups since its debut in May 2025.

Terri’s influence extends beyond Baldwin County. She serves on the boards of the Alabama Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) and the Alabama Recycling Coalition, helping to shape industry standards and promote sustainable practices statewide.

A proud Auburn University alumna, Terri earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. She is also a devoted wife to John Graham and mother to three daughters—Taylor, Maddie, and Jordyn—who inspire her commitment to building a cleaner, greener future for the next generation.
