Celebrating 25 Years of Partnership, Progress, and Environmental Stewardship

As we close this milestone 25th Anniversary year, the Board of Directors and I extend our heartfelt appreciation for your commitment to Partners for Environmental Progress. Because of members like you, 2025 was not only a year of achievement, but it was also a celebration of 25 years of partnership, innovation, and shared commitment to strengthening the balance between economic vitality and environmental stewardship along the Alabama Gulf Coast.

Honoring 25 Years of Vision and Impact

In September, the City of Mobile commemorated PEP’s 25th Anniversary with an official Mayor’s Proclamation, recognizing the organization’s long-standing leadership in promoting science-based environmental best practices and supporting a strong, sustainable business community. Before environmental stewardship became the economic driver it is today, Members like you demonstrated that responsible growth and environmental protection work hand in hand.

Throughout 2025, we celebrated our founding members, early visionaries, and the many volunteers and partners who built PEP into the trusted, respected organization it is today. Your membership ensures that this strong foundation continues to grow for the next 25 years.

Advancing Education & Workforce Development

This year, thanks to the generosity of our members and supporters, PEP awarded two $2,500 Science & Technology Scholarships to outstanding local students pursuing degrees in environmental and natural sciences and engineering. Since the scholarship program began in 2019, seven students have benefited from this investment in the next generation of coastal scientists, engineers, and environmental professionals. With continued support, we plan to offer additional and larger scholarships in the years ahead.

Strengthening Our Foundation: 2026–2028 Strategic Plan Development

PEP has spent this year not only celebrating our history but also thoughtfully preparing for the future. With guidance from our Board, member input, and community partners, we began developing PEP’s 2026–2028 Strategic Plan, a roadmap that will guide our growth, enhance member value, and strengthen our impact on regional environmental and economic priorities.

The new plan will focus on:

  • Expanding member engagement and leadership opportunities
  • Enhancing our advocacy and regulatory outreach
  • Strengthening environmental education and scholarship programs
  • Advancing the Eagle Reef Project and other science-based initiatives
  • Improving organizational capacity to meet the needs of a growing membership

We are already at work on implementing the plan by improving our committee structure to encourage more members and young professionals to get involved. Your participation through feedback and engagement will be essential to PEP’s future.

Advancing PEP’s mission

In 2025, PEP continued to elevate the positive role businesses play in environmental protection:

  • Eagle Reef Project installations and partnerships expanded, improving near-shore habitat and water quality across Coastal Alabama.
  • Member education and networking programs brought together industry leaders around topics such as innovation, safety, regulatory updates, and emerging technologies.
  • Community advocacy and collaboration with regional partners, including the University of South Alabama, Mobile Bay National Estuary Program, and many other organizations and public agencies, reinforced PEP’s position as a balanced, science-driven voice for both environmental stewardship and economic growth.

Across every program, your membership directly supports meaningful progress and tangible results for the Gulf Coast.

Membership Renewal for 2026

Early next month, you will receive your 2026 Membership Renewal Invoice. We hope you will renew your commitment to PEP before February 28, 2026. Your dues provide critical support for our programs, advocacy, and community partnerships. Most importantly, your dues ensure that PEP remains a strong, unified voice for the business community on environmental issues that affect us all.

Thank you again for your partnership and for celebrating this 25-year milestone with us. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I wish you and your team a joyful holiday season and a successful new year.

Warm regards,
